Xn Leisure new branding

You may have noticed recently that we’ve started to change the colour of our logo. Through 2016 we’ve run a number of advertising campaigns using what we call ‘heritage’ colours.

We’ve had very positive feedback about this and over the next few months you will start to see less of the blue and pink and more of this new heritage colour scheme. The most notable change will be the launch of our updated website in Q4 2016. One of our challenges will be to get this out to the products, Advantage and Dimension – the two core products that carry the Xn branding, with minimum impact and disruption to our customers. It is our intention to have completed this transition for the beginning of 2017 and we’ll let you know how this is going in our Winter 2016 newsletter.

New starters in the Xn Team

Pete Hemming  Tester   I joined Xn Leisure as a tester in early July. For the previous 4 years I performed a similar role for a small company in Oxford, predominantly working on Virtual Learning Environments developed for an international publisher. I undertook manual UI and back end testing on both PHP and Classic ASP based platforms, and was also involved with automated testing using Selenium and the Cucumber framework. I have worked extensively to Agile principles, utilising Scrum and Kanban methodologies on different projects.  I am already enjoying the challenge of working with Xn's products, and look forward to becoming an integral part of the team.

Ryan Hillam  Customer Support Analyst  I recently joined Xn Leisure as a 1st line support apprentice. I left college a year ago after completing my A-levels and have more recently been working with my dad doing office installations. As this is my first IT job I am hoping to learn a lot and quickly become an integral part of the team.

Sam Gill   Customer Support Analyst   I have just joined Xn Leisure as part of the 1st Line support team as an apprentice with QA, the first step in my career in IT, and I am looking forward to developing my skills here as well as becoming a true member of the team. I have previously worked in retail and took a BTEC Diploma in IT at college, but this is my very first job within the IT industry so I am looking forward to working here with everyone.

Advantage - useful tip

Did you know that in Advantage 2015 there is a new report, the Cash Statement Payment Method Report. This report shows the income against Analysis Code and then divides this into payment methods of ‘Cash’, ‘Cheque’, ‘Card’, and/or ‘Self Service’.

Social Value Calculator

Xn Leisure continues to offer customers the ability to use the data they capture through the Xn Insight reporting tool to accurately measure the value and impacts of the sports and physical activity they offer through using another great module called the Social Value Calculator which is part of the Data Hub. By using the operators current data and sector-wide benchmarks the module gives insight to an operator's savings in four key areas:
-  Health care
-  Education
-  Wellbeing
-  Crime

Features
•  Social Value key performance indicators - In monetary terms, evidence the saving physical activity at your facility or programme is making to the local community. Access values and percentage change, split annually, quarterly and monthly.
•   Benchmarking - Compare saving values across the sector and within your own region, contracts and individual facilities and programmes.
• Categorise the savings - By Health, Education & Employment, Community & Crime and Subjective Wellbeing. The model is based on specific line items e.g. CHD, dementia, colon cancer etc.
• Mapping - View current population and your value created, use it to target high value gap.
• Filter results - By strategic demographic groups, activity programmes and time periods, ideal for external reporting.

Benefits
• Credibility and robustness - the model brings together the leading partners in the sector. Sheffield Hallam University's SIRC department provide social impact modelling for Sport England, and their approach to this module uses the model created in the recent Social Value of Sport report for the DCMS (April 2016. Sector participation value &44bn, &1 = &1.91 of return). Experian are one of the largest socio-economic and risk profiling data companies in the UK.
• Evidence - a simple and transparent way of evidencing the community impact of your programme or facility. The model is based on a range of specific indicators, therefore savings can be aligned to specific social areas and potential funders.
• Automation - as part of the DataHub the module uses the anonymised data extracts to generate a participation profile, which is aligned to the Social Value model, saving you time and providing consistency across all results.
• Relevance - through DataHub standardisation all results can be analysed and benchmarked within the sector, allowing every user to know what good looks like.
• Target - to support funding applications and programme commissioning, the user is able to identify where high social value can be generated through targeted activity.
• Localised - using local socio-economic and lifestyle data to profile participants, the model is appreciative of local contexts e.g. areas of high deprivation.
• Track record - the module has already been used across the sector to progress new funding opportunities, aligning investment with targets impact opportunities.
